About CHRCE

Centre for Human Rights and Civic Education (CHRCE) is a non – political, non – partisan and non-profit making membership organization. It was founded in 1996 and was legally-hosted by Center for Law and Research International (CLARION) during its formative years. After evolving into a vibrant human rights organization, CHRCE sought and obtained formal registration as an NGO under the NGO Coordination Act (1990) in 2005.CHRCE is now a well-established civil society organization with a mandate to promote realization of human rights and people’s involvement in democratic governance practices. Even though the organization is headquartered in Mwingi town of Kitui county, it has nevertheless expanded its operations in neighbouring counties of Machakos, Makueni and Tharaka-Nithi.
